Welcome to my #1 piece of podcasting advice.

Maybe you’ve seen the articles online, on social media, in journals and newspapers. The articles that say we’ve hit “peak podcast”, that the podcast space is “getting crowded”, that podcasts “need” a network or a celebrity at the helm to find success.

Maybe you’ve had a friend, coworker, family member, or acquaintance tell you not to bother creating or moving forward with your own show. Or maybe they’ve responded to your announcement that you want to (or are making) a podcast with a skeptically raised eyebrow and a “We’ll see…”

Maybe you’re feeling like your show is getting lost or buried, or that no one would possibly WANT to listen to your story or your message.

Here’s my advice: DO IT ANYWAY.

Start your podcast — continue your podcast — reinvent your podcast — in spite of the naysayers. In spite of your own doubts and fears. In spite of what predictions for the upcoming year might be telling you.

Do it in spite of them. Or heck, do it to spite them.

The world is full of fearmongers, of people who focus on scarcity rather than abundance.

There are hundreds of millions of books, with thousands more being published every DAY.

There aren’t even more than one million total podcasts in existence yet.

There is ABSOLUTELY room in the podcasting ecosystem for your show.

Don’t let the naysayers, gatekeepers, and fearmongers tell you otherwise.

When filled with doubt, do it anyway.

Ask for help. Ash for advice. Take action.

Then do a dance of triumph, because NO ONE’s gonna bring you down.

Words & warmth,

Sarah
