What kept you (or IS keeping you) from starting your podcast?

I had the idea for my first podcast, Write Now, way back in early 2014. But I didn’t launch the first episode until 2015. I sat on that idea for a whole YEAR because… well, I was afraid.

I was frozen. The tech was scary. The prospect of being seen and heard was scary. I had a thousand different steps in front of me, and I didn’t know which one to take first. So I didn’t take ANY.

Standing still felt SAFER than stepping forward into the unknown and potentially falling off a ledge.

When I launched in 2015, and my podcast began to build steam, I began to wish I had just bitten the bullet and launched back in 2014.

Putting it off just put me behind. I’d be so much farther ahead right now if I’d have just moved forward with the idea when I first had it.

But I was waiting — and for what, I can’t precisely tell you. Waiting for the perfect conditions. Waiting for “enough” knowledge to begin. Waiting for the Podcasting Fairy to wave her magic wand and materialize a Heil PR-40. I don’t know.

They say the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago… but the second-best time is NOW.

What are you waiting for? What kept you (or IS keeping you) from starting your podcast?

Words & warmth,

Sarah
