A short post this week, yet still a lot of creativity-related content for you, in the form of two videos.

The first is my interview with #1 New York Times bestselling author David Sheff, whose memoir Beautiful Boy was recently adapted into a movie starring Steve Carell. Our conversation leans toward how David coped with life as his son Nic spiraled into a meth addiction, and the role of recovery for both of them — so if that is a triggering or troubling topic for you, please feel free to skip to the next video!

Otherwise, please enjoy — it turned out wonderfully.

Second, if you’ve never been to one of my live Wednesday night create-alongs on Twitch, no worries (though of course you are always invited!) I just wanted to share this past Wednesday’s replay video with you because… well, things went a little bit differently.

This was an unusual create-along because we didn’t do any creating. Instead, we had a really deep and meaningful conversation about our struggles as creators — from anxiety and depression to finding our audience to thinking we really suck (which is not true). Plus, several chat members rewrote the lyrics to Gaston’s song from Beauty and the Beast and it was amazing.

It ended up being a really fun time, and you can catch the replay here.

(You can also subscribe to my YouTube channel while you’re there, if you like.)

Until next week, take good care of yourself. And if any thoughts arise from watching either of these two videos (or both!), I’d love to hear them. Just hit “reply” to this email and I’ll see your response!

Words & warmth,
Sarah

P.S. As a special bonus, if you haven’t yet seen my video interview of Anne Lamott, you can find that here.
