Podcasters of ALL SKILL LEVELS — aspiring, hobbyist, professional, and everything in between — are welcome to join! So whether you’ve been doing this for years or haven’t even launched your show yet, please know that you are welcome.
People-wise, I’m looking for podcasters who are gutsy, motivated, kind, and invested in the success of their peers as well as themselves. I’m looking for people who give more than they take and know that this is the reason they are successful — or will be.
Why Am I Doing This?
I truly believe that the tide raises all ships. So when one indie podcast succeeds, we all succeed. And when we’re invested in each other’s success, when we have each other’s backs, this will happen a lot more quickly and frequently.
Despite what you may have heard, podcasting is still in its infancy. Unlike film, television, books, print journalism, and other forms of mass media, podcasting isn’t full of entrenched bureaucracies and obsolete rules. Yet.
I want to see podcasting grow into a mature adult that is principled, kind, encouraging, and authentic. To do this, creators need to get to know one another and grow together.
We need to stop fearfully hoarding success tactics and strategies. We need to be open and honest about what’s good for the medium, and not just for big companies and advertisers.
Maybe I’m being exceptionally naive, but hey, I know what future I want to see and I’m willing to try building it.
