Hey, friends. Sarah here. It goes without saying that 2020 has been a difficult year so far. But I wanted to check in and see how your hearts were doing.
Taking care of yourself is essential right now, especially if you are a creator, writer, podcaster, healthcare worker, grocery store employee, teacher, deliveryperson, business owner, student, parent… okay, basically anyone.
It’s easy to brush off self care as fluff or unimportant, especially when it seems like so many other people are suffering so much more than we are.
But you still matter, and your health (mental, physical, and spiritual) still matters. I’ve seen a lot of anxiety, fear, hopelessness, and despair online, and while we all dip into that pool from time to time, I don’t want you to swim there permanently.
So please take care of yourself. Here are some starting points:
- Drink plenty of water.
- Take deep breaths.
- Read a book.
- Wash your hands.
- Do some journaling to process your thoughts and feelings, which are valid.
- Call a friend or loved one.
- Make some tea.
- Create something, if that feels good to you.
- Allow yourself to rest — or to simply even exist.
You’re doing great.
