I love talking about all of the mistakes I made when I first started podcasting.
First of all, they’re hilarious (and kinda cringe-y).
Secondly, those mistakes mark the places where I have learned my most valuable and poignant lessons.
I think my BIGGEST podcasting mistake was putting off starting for OVER A YEAR after I had the idea for the Write Now podcast.
At that time, I was scared of being seen. I was scared of the tech. I was scared of potential criticism. So I stayed in my safe zone.
That was a HUGE mistake.
Over a year later, when I FINALLY got over myself and submitted my first episodes to my brand-new RSS feed, I wondered why I had waited so long.
To this day, I realize that I would be SO MUCH FARTHER ALONG with my show if I had just started when I needed to, instead of when I thought I was “ready” to.
But the good news is that I eventually did start — and I’m so glad I did.
